26th Dec. Happy 2nd birthday dear Diva! :-)
10th Dec. This years last show in Helsinki, Finnish Winner 2006 - Diva did fine even though we can borrow americans and say 'Close, but no cigar' ;-) Diva was BB2 with CC & ResCACIB out of 35 bitches! Basenjis were judged by Poland breeder-judge Janusz Opara (LIWANG). During this year Diva entered 13 shows and gained 8 CC's and 2 ResCC's :-) Aatu sends huge congratulations to his daughters in Sweden, S Fin CH SW-00 Basenji Bitch of the Year 2002 Yulara Gwai Gulli-Maya 'Gaia' was yesterday at Swedish Winner -show BB3 & BOB-veteran, with this results she confirmed the title 'Basenji Veteran of the Year 2006'! Aatu's other daughter (S CCH) Yulara Gwai Billa 'Billa' was BOB & BIS-4 veteran week ago at Åby puppy & veteranshow! :-)
25th Nov. This evening there would've been lot of program but we ended up going to L-S KKH's christmas party to pic up lot of trophies for Piitu! Today was also Weimaraner Club Of Finland's autumn meeting where Katja was chosen as Member of the Board for the 2nd two years turn!
18th Nov. Diva visited Jyväskylä INT show, this time no big success - 2nd in Intermediate Class & ResCC.
17th Nov. Happy 9th birthday dear Aatu! :-)
29th Oct. Field trials in Kotka, judged by Mr Seppo Eerola - we had kind of hurry to get Winners Class water retrieving & tracking test done with Piitu, the temperature was below zero the whole weekend and it was snowing .. she still passed the both tests with full points :-) So we continued the day with Piitu's first Winners Class field trial .. first two rounds were empty, but in third one she pointed and came to inform about it, but the pheasant had escaped to the private yard. Next bird situation went just like it should be and so Piitu gained 2nd prize in Winners Class at the first try!! We surely are proud of the old lady :-)
15th Oct. Holiday in Salla went just fine and we found lot of birds - it was difficult to leave the North behind again ... Huge thanks to fam. Jaakkonen for fishing & hunting companion :-) And also our "south-tourist" guests Pate and Toni - Nessa found the love of her life from Pate's Labrador male Nero ;-) Greetings also to Minna, it was great to see you again - Neida sends lot of kisses to daddy Kanda & brother Mosku! So, the news ... L-S KKH Club Championship field trials were held in Koski Tl 7th Oct., judged by Mr Kimmo Vesanto. Piitu was the only open class dog (out of six) who found birds and was awarded so she won the gold medal and Club Championship in Open Class with result 2nd prize! :-) On the next day it was new field trial in the same place, this time judged by Mr Kari Nieminen. Piitu worked beautifully and as there was no mistakes, so she did it - 87 points and 1st prize in Open Class!!! :-)
6th Sept. It has been a month since last update and we are still going to be very busy in the near future - hunting season starts after couple of days! :-) But here some latest news ... Neida has grown up a lot and is still a *very* promising puppy who keeps to amaze us with her excellent nose, search & pointing :-) She passed the youth class water work test at 5 mths old in Kotka 26th Aug. with 3 pts (max 5). We have also done some showing, in Heinola 20th Aug. Nessa was BOB with her last CC - now she 'only' lacks hunting test results from Champion-title .. well, maybe some year ;-) Diva did well too, BB2 & her 6th CC - huge thanks to Tiina (BULLDOBAS) for handling both girls! At Helsinki show 3rd Sept. Diva was BOS with her 7th CC out of 34 adults! Lot of new photos & hopefully also new website-layout coming at beginning of October .. now it's time for our long-waited holiday!! :-) ps. Neida wishes good luck to her mom Tessa for the 'Riistakoira 2006' -competition!
8th Aug. Last weekend we spent in Kustavi at Lounais-Suomen Kanakoiraharrastajat ry's summer meeting and had Piitu, Nessa & Neida along. Weather was hot and company was great :-) Saturday started with official water work test where we entered both older girls - for Piitu it was a routine task and she got maximum 5 points, Nessa blew her changes by starting retrieving after gunshot, she didn't bother to wait for permission ;-) Club's unofficial Retrieving Championship -competition continued at Piitu's part with Open Class land retrieving test and she got maximum points from that test too and won the class. To continue the competition she had to pass the Winners Class water retrieving test, no problems in that one either and full points :-) Winners Class land retrieving test was also piece of cake ... so finals started between Piitu and her cousin, Fin CH Vesakon Chubby (last years champion). Retrieving objects were fox, hare and gull - both dogs retrieved them beautifully but Piitu's time was 20 seconds faster and she won! :-) On Sunday Neida & Katja 'had to' take part to Obedience -competition without ANY practising - and when she really doesn't know what all the commands mean we can't expect much, and they were 3rd in Youth Class (out of 3 participants) ;-) Then we had some water retrieving training with Nessa & Neida. 30th July Nessa took part to her first official tracking test with only few training evenings behind - she got 3rd prize in Open Class! I could've gone better as we know how well her nose works, but we'll try it next summer again :-) Tracking area was very hard and track was 22,5 hours old. She started very slowly and and had one missing (she stared to point to the bushes where there was something much more interesting than old cow blood ;-) and that one dropped her points, but most important is that she found the rabbit and got a nice critique!
22nd July Huge congrats to Aatu's granddaughter Yulara Inula 'Nala' for finishing her Est & Fin & Lux CH -titles today! Nala is Aatu's 9th Champion-grandkid (1 FCH, 8 ShCH).
8th July Today in Sweden at Tvååker INT show Aatu's granddaughter Shahrans Aritza 'Treo' finished her S CH -title, congratulations! If we are right, Treo is Aatu's 8th Champion-grandkid (1 FCH, 7 ShCH).
1st July Finnish Sighthound Club Specialty at Mustiala, judged by Mr Vitor Veiga (Portugal) - Diva was 2nd Best Bitch this time with ResCC - big congrats to Tuuli (Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze) for BOB, CC & Fin CH, brother Tepi for BOS & CC and little cousin Timon (Bulldobas No Regrets) for BOB-puppy!
26th June We spent wonderful week at Salla (North Finland) at our summer place - midnight sun was beautiful though there was LOT of mosquitos :-) We all wanted to stay there but we just have to wait for September to go back ... Added some new pics from our holiday here!
10th-11th June Diva did it - on saturday at European Winner 2006 -show she first won the Junior Class with title EuJW-06, then she won her 5th CC and finally she ended up as Best Of Breed out of 40 basenjis (11 of them from abroad)!!!! :-) Judge was Mr Adrian Landarte (Uruguay). We are SO proud of our little Princess ... :-) On Sunday Nessa visited EuW-show as well to meet her relatives and she did fine too, Excellent from Open Class! EuJW-titles went to her half-brother and -sister as well as bitch CC & resCACIB, daddy Nordic won hard Open Class - congrats to all, it was lovely to meet you :-) Judge for weimaraners was Mr Paavo Mattila (Finland).
27th May Huge congrats to Susan & Kevin - Calypso Jon Bon Jovi got today his last points and is now Am CH!! :-)
21st May Great news from States - Aatu's black/white grandson Calypso Jon Bon Jovi is having fun with his handler Kim Byrd (KISA Basenjis) - today he won his third Major (5 pts) in row and lacks only 1 single point of Am CH title! GO, Jon :-) Congrats also to Sweden where granddaughter CH Yulara Itichika 'Chika' won Lure Coursing competition in Täby with unofficial CC!
20th May Helsinki INT, judged by Mrs Sylvie Desserne (France) - Diva BOS with CC! She was entered in Junior Class so no CACIB this time, but this was first show in Finland where BOB Junior was chosen (she won that!) and there was a BIS Junior ring (53 entries) ... in that one she was chosen among the 10 best Junior dogs so we were happy :-) Some new photos of Diva here!
15th May We are proud to present our newest family-addition: Takapellon Nieida aka Neida! We ended up choosing the funniest looking, biggest and most reckless girl - and yes she is a real busybody! Thanks to Diva who immediately decided to baby-sit Neida and hopefully will keep her out of trouble *HAH* ;-) Also the rest of the dogs accepted her well. Huge thanks to Neida's breeders Heikki & Kirsi for this little princess!
23rd April Lahti INT, judged by Mr Manuel Loureiro Borges (Portugal) - Diva did very well again - she was BB2 with CC & ResCACIB out of 20 bitches! :-) Some pics taken after the show added here. Congrats also to Sweden where Aatu's granddaughter Chika (CH Yulara Itichika) continues her winning by taking BOB & BIS-1 at SSUK Köping Specialty show! Yesterday at Västerås show Chika was BOS and her dam Gaia was BB2 & BOB-veteran, they were the only bitches who got CQ from judge Elina Tan-Hietalahti!
15th April Lappeenranta INT, judged by Mrs Saija Juutilainen (Finland) - Diva did it again, first time in Intermediate Class and she was BOS with CC & CACIB! :-) Brother Tepi was BD4. At the same weekend we also visited Tessa's 4 wks old puppies, added some new pics of them here! Thanks to family Nygren for hosting our visit :-) Today in Sweden 'Lilla-Stockholm' INT-show Aatu's daughter Gaia (CH Yulara Gwai Gulli-Maya) was BB5 & BOB-veteran and Gaia's daughter Chika (CH Yulara Itichika) BOS & CACIB!
1st April We visited Tessa's 2 wks old puppies at Kotka - all of them were super-cute as expected :-) Added lot of new pics of the pups!
18th March Tampere INT, basenjis were judged by Mr Steven H Seymour (Australia) - Diva-darling got her Excellent again and was placed 2nd in Junior Class (6 entries) this time - congrats to her aunt Myy: BB3 & CACIB, brother Tepi: BD4 and also to Aatu's granddaughter Sella: BB2 & CC!
17th March Lovely news from Kotka - Piitu's half-sister Finnish Hunting Champion Takapellon Tessa gave birth to 4 boys & 6 girls - if everything goes as planned one of those girls will join our pack after two months! :-) Sire of the litter is Fin CH & HuntCH Kanda. 22nd Jan. Turku INT - first show for this year .. Nessa competed first time in Open Class and was 1st with Very Good, weims were judged by Mr Rune Fagerström (Finland). Diva darling used her charm again and won BB1 & BOS with CC from Junior Class (out of 26 basenjis)! Our judge Mr Paul Singleton (JETHARD Basenjis, England - breeder/owner/handler of the only Cruft's BIS-winning basenji) thought that she has exceptional movement .. we agree :-) This year is surely looking good ... new photos here!
