26th Dec. Happy 1st Birthday dear Diva! :-)
17th-18th Dec. very hard show weekend behind.. Finnish Winner 2005 -show on Saturday and Nordic Winner 2005 -show on Sunday. We had entered our youngsters to both shows - Nessa didn't have much success this time, Very Good (1st prize) on both days, class win on Saturday and 3rd in class on Sunday. But Diva-darling did it! On Saturday she won Junior Bitches (11) with Excellent and ended up as BB2 with ResCC - so for now on she's called FinJW-05 Bulldobas La Scala :-) Basenjis (49) were judged by Mr Jeffrey Horswell from England. On Sunday she was too tired to concentrate and placed 2nd in Junior Bitches with Excellent. So I think we have be quite happy and start planning a trip to Crufts - Diva got the qualification for year 2007! ;-)
11th Dec. Nessa sends HUGE congratulations to her daddy Nordic who won BOB, CACIB & SW-05 today in Swedish Winner -show out of 53 Weimaraners!! :-) Judge was Mrs Valerie Foss from England. Aatu sends Congratulations to his granddaughter Chika (S CH Yulara Itichika) for BB2 & ResCACIB - she is now Basenji Bitch of the Year 2005 in Sweden :-)
19th-20th Nov. Jyväskylä INT - first on Saturday Diva entered first time to Junior Class (also her first indoor show) and did very well, great critique and 4th Best Bitch! Her brother Tepi (Bulldobas Le Charmeur) did even better, BOB, CC & BIG-2!! Huge Congrats to Tiina(s) & Tepi :-) Judge for basenjis was Mr Arne Foss (Norway). On Sunday it was Nessa's turn with Tiina as a handler, and she also got great critique and was Best Bitch and BOB with CC & CACIB! :-) Judge for weimaraners was Mrs Ursula Nielsen (Sweden). Not a bad weekend at all ...
17th Nov. Happy Birthday dear Aatu! He's now 8 years old but still he acts like a kid ... :-)
5th Nov. Huge Congratulations to Piitu's halfsister Takapellon Tessa & family Nygren - today at Inari Muotka hunting test (fjeld) Tessa got her third 1st Prize in Winners Class in row (during one week!) so now she is a Finnish Hunting Champion!!
29th Oct. Hunting test (field) in Kotka, judged by Mr Pekka Heikkinen. Piitu wasn't acting normally today, maybe she has had too much hard training lately .. anyhow, Arto stopped her test when it was clear that she's not going to get a 1st prize today. Her halfsister Takapellon Tessa did very well instead - she got 1st prize from Winners Class, and repeated that on Sunday too!
24th Oct. Hunting test (field) in Koski Tl, judged by Mr Seppo Eerola. We only had Piitu with us as Nessa had to stay at home - it was fun day even though the weather was freezing! Today Piitu got 2nd prize in Open Class (71 pts) - this was also Lounais-Suomen Kanakoiraharrastajat ry's Championship competition and Piitu got silver prize in Open Class :-) Total entry of dogs in the trial was 14, and Piitu got 5th best points - not bad!
18th Oct. We have heard some wonderful news from Sweden - Nessa's sister Embla (Scuba's Highland Witch) has won 2 x 2nd prize in youth class field trials and she was also rewarded as the best fielddog in youth class at Swedish Weimaraner Club Championships! Nessa's brother Hunter (Scuba's Hunter) in Denmark has also won 1st prize & 2nd prize in youth class this year :-) And there's more to come - Nessa's half-sister Carma (S CH S JCH JV-04 Scuba's Gold Strike) won her 2nd 1st prize in winners class and is now the 4th Hunting Champion Weimaraner in Sweden (1st is Nessa's grandmom and 3rd is Nessa's mom) - Way to go, Anci & Nicke!!! :-) Unfortunately we had to cancel our plans for Nessa's hunting tests this autumn as she started her season 2 mths early (followed Diva) ... and after that she's too old to compete in youth class. Sigh.
1st-2nd Oct. WeimaranerWeekend 2005 was held here in Somero - 15 dogs and 16 owners took part to this happening. Arto worked as instructor and all dogs got chances to work with the birds. On Saturday evening Raija Tammelin gave us a lecture of Weimaraners - it sure was interesting. More information of the happening is in WeimariWiesti (Weimarinseisojakerho - Weimaraner Club of Finland ry's magazine for members) which will be published before Christmas! 24th-25th Sept. JUNKKARI 2005 in Lapua, Saksanseisojakerho ry's breeding quality examination for young Continental Pointing Gud Dogs. First on Saturday Raija Tammelin graded Nessa's exterior as Excellent and in the evenings finals she was chosen as Best Weimaranerbitch and BOS! :-) 13 weims were entered and 5 got Excellent. On Sunday we had a field trial, our group was judged by Mr Veikko Munukka - there was some birds at the field but for Nessa there was no bird contacts and so her searching went smaller and smaller .. retrieving of the dead bird went well, after few seconds searching and dropping it when sitting down she got 4 points out of 5 which was 2nd best result in our group. As she was missing the bird contacts she got only 25 pts - and that was best result for weimaraner bitches today ;-) No prizes were given in our group.
22nd Sept. Nessa's health results came back from Kennel Club (she was x-rayed 3 wks ago) .. and YES, she is healthy - hips A/A and elbows 0/0 !!! :-)
19th Sept. this years hunting trip to North is now done. Almost two weeks enjoying holiday and hunting .. this year we mostly just spent the holiday but of course we got some birds too, 3 capercaillies, 2 black grouses and 5 wild ducks! We saw lot of birds and dogs had fun :-) Lot of new pics added of Nessa (also here + training gallery), Diva & Piitu and naturally updated the Hunting Gallery!
4th Sept. Hunting test (field) in Kotka, judged by Mr Esko Siiriäinen. This time Arto decided to not limit Piitu's speed when yesterday judge mentioned about it. Everything went very well until on 3rd game - judge let us know that if this one goes as well as the first ones Piitu will get 1st prize in Open Class .. and, Piitu retrieved the bird without permission (she laid down after shooting but when she noticed that bird wasn't dead she decided to retrieve it) so that was it - highest prize in this case is 3rd prize and that's what she got. But, this was one test and she will go to Winners Class one day ;-) Fields in Kotka were really good and there was lot of pheasants - Piitu naturally was very happy to meet her breeders again! Her half-sister Takapellon Tessa got today 3rd prize in Winners class. Some photos can be seen here!
3rd Sept. Hunting test (forest) in Hattula, judged by Mr Heikki Nuutinen. This was Piitu's first hunting test since she was a junior - unfortunately we didn't get any prize as there was no birds, but we had fun!
28th Aug. Diva darling did it again! In Heinola all breeds show, judged by Mrs Elina Tan-Hietalahti (Finland) she was shown for the first & last time in 'official' puppy class (7-9 mths) and once again she beat all other bitch puppies and ended up as BOB-puppy out of 8 entries with wonderful critique! Her brother Tepi did well too and was BOS-puppy and mom Pitsi was Best of Breed!! :-)
7th Aug. SUPER CONGRATS to Aatu's daughter Avanti (Unona's Calypso Avanti) in States who collected 8 points (1 MAJOR) in one week and finished her Am CH -title! Avanti is Aatu's 8th Champion offspring and 3rd Am CH - we are so proud :-) Thank you & congrats to owners Susan & Kevin!
6th Aug. SummerDay of the Lounais-Suomen Kanakoiraharrastajat ry in Piikkiö: Piitu started the day in official Water Retrieving Test, judged by Mr Mauri Harju. She did everything like it should and got maximum 5 points! Next we entered Obedience Competition (unofficial) with both girls, even though we haven't practised this at all .. judge was Mr Kari Virtanen. Nessa started in Youth Class and did very well for a beginner, she got 70 points and was 6th! Piitu thought that Obedience wasn't so fun today and got 64 points. Then was the time of unofficial Retrieving Competition with Piitu and she got full points also from the land retrieving part - she was the only dog of the 19 entries who got maximum 20 points from preliminary round (water & land retrieving) :-) 'Unfortunately' points started from zero in the Finals but she did very well there too, found both hidden birds with her wide search and ended up as 3rd in Retrieving Competition! She is very proud of her first own trophy :-) Thanks to everyone involved for a very fun day - some photos available here!
2nd Aug. Water Retrieving Test in Mäntsälä, judged by Mr Pekka Heikkinen - Nessa passed the Youth Class with 3 points out of 5, otherwise excellent job but just when she was sitting down after the retrieve she dropped the dummy. Piitu took care of the Open Class test with 4 points out of 5, she had to fix the position of the bird in her mouth during delivery - area was not easy and about half of the dogs gave up. GOOD JOB GIRLS, we'll try to get more points later :-)
24th July Diva-darling gave mom a perfect birthday present! In Finnish Basenji Club Specialty in Helsinki basenji-puppies were judged by Mr Jarmo Vuorinen (Finland), and out of 21 bitch puppies he chose our Diva to be the best :-) Diva won 5-7 mths bitches and 7-9 mths old winner and went after all BOS-puppy!! We are sooooo proud of her .... :-) Diva also won the Bulldobas Challenge Trophy for the best 5-7 mths old puppy. Diva's brother Tepi (Bulldobas Le Charmeur won the 5-7 mths male puppies class with HP and was 2nd best male puppy, Diva's sister 'Milla' (Bulldobas La Soprano) was 4th in the class and also their dam Pitsi was 4th with Excellent in Champion-bitch class (19 bitches) and competed of the best gait, so it was indeed a good day!
17th July Ypäjä all breeds show, Weims were judged by Mr Markku Santamäki (Finland) - Nessa did it! She won the Intermediate class with Excellent and was Best Bitch & Best of Breed with her 2nd CC! :-) Now it's a good time to quit showing for a while and concentrate on hunting!
9th July Finnish Sighthound Club Specialty in Mustiala, basenjis were judged by Mrs Margaret Martin (Ireland). Sweet Diva entered show rings for the 2nd time and REALLY surprised us all! She was not only the winner of 5-7 mths bitches but also won the older class (7-9 mths old) winner and went after all BOB (out of 9 basenji puppies) and finally BIS-3 puppy under Mr Jose Romao (Portugal)! We were SO proud of her :-) Critique can be read here! And to make the day just perfect, momma Pitsi (falsepregnant) was Best Bitch, BOB & Group-3 and Diva's brother Tepi (Bulldobas Le Charmeur) won also his class with HP and great critique! 3rd July Congratulations to Aatu's only black&white son, Unona's Calypso Armani 'Eclipse' won his first Major (3 pts) in South Dakota today! Also Diva would like to send her congrats to momma Pitsi who was BB1 & BOB in Hyvinkää show!

18th June SSK Specialty (Specialty Show only for Continental Pointing Gun Dogs) in Jyväskylä - judge for Weimaraners was Mrs Erja Nummi and Nessa won her class with Very Good and great critique! Piitu was also entered and this time she picked her 'Excellent' from a German breed specialist, Mr Hans-Dieter Pamler :-) So yes we had a great day, huge thanks to Tiina for handling both girls!
12th June unofficial Puppy Show in Helsinki, basenjis were judged by Mrs Pirkko Konttinen - Diva entered show rings for the first time. She showed nicely and ended up as 4th in her class! Congratulations to Aatu's granddaughter Tiuku (Dakarai Tingeling) for her BOS-puppy!
5th June Aatu sends Congratulations to Germany, his granddaughter Asali (Kokojambo's Aali Asali) finished today her Poland Champion -title with Best of Breed!

7th March Miracles do happen ... On Sunday we went to visit Aatu's grandkids and after that Arto decided that he wants his own basenji-puppy! ;-) So on next day we asked from Aatu's breeder Tiina if she would let her own 10 wks old puppy to come live with us - and she said yes! On Monday-evening we drove to Muurame to see little-Diva and of course she travelled home with us - she is just so adorable little girl, HUGE thanks again Tiina! Our 'oldsters' were shocked but are getting used to the idea that she's here to stay - and Nessa was is SOOO excited of her new playmate :-)

31st Jan. our young lady surprised us again with her talents .. in the evening our hunting club needed a tracking dog to find a wounded deer and they decided to try it with Nessa - even though she has never been trained for the job. She was very eagar for the tracking and in the dark she followed the deer several kilometers and finally pointed it to bushes, but the deer escaped. Next morning they were back in business .. it was snowing but still she followed the track very obstinately and even though Arto lost the track many many times Nessa always found it again. Finally in the afternoon deer was located and men got a change to shoot it. They were sooo proud of Nessa and of course so were we! :-) Totally ~ 9 kilometers tracking for one year old first-timer was really something!
30th Jan. show year started in Turku INT judged by Mrs Arja Koskelo. Nessa got a super critique and was Jun Excellent 1, BB2 & ResCC owner-handled by Katja (who hasn't been in rings since Aatu was a puppy .. 6,5 yrs ago!) so we were quite happy! Best Bitch was Swedish 5 yrs old CH-bitch from working class and BOB & CACIB was again Nessa's half-brother Malte! :-)

16th Jan. updated Aatu's offspring -page .. during this winter there was born 13 new grandkids and 10 new great-grandkids in USA, Finland, Germany and Sweden! There was also born new halfbrothers & -sisters to Nessa in Poland (Fala Love'a Weimaraners & Duma Kazana Weimaraners)!

8th Jan. congrats to Aatu's grandson Bulldobas Adofo Amani for winning BOS, CC & CACIB & new Finnish Champion in Kajaani INT today - history repeats itself, Aatu finished his Championship also in his first possible show in Kajaani exactly 5 years ago!
2nd Jan. What a start for year 2005 .. Nessa's first own bird was dropped today! In terrible snowstorm she found two pheasants, pointed, flushed, waited after the shooting and retrieved the bird when Arto told her so! We are proud :-)
